Evaluation: “In our culture there is no place for a women”

“In our culture there is no place for a women” Through our research, we discovered that in Asian countries feminism is known as a taboo subject and has not been well recognised nation wide. After some idea development, we decided to find some resourceful ideas online such as Wikipedia to develop our ideas of Asian feminism . However, doing this did not feel as though we were creating an authentic, innovative piece of instillation, so we decided to be ambitious, going a step further and finding real Asian feminist groups.Using actual resources such as the feminist library, Gabies mother and Facebook groups in Asia gave the piece a much more authentic feel, and helped us to better achieve what we originally set out to do – to highlight feminism in Asian culture, In addition, this also increased the enjoyment of the instillation making process for us as a group, as we felt a stronger connection to the topic and an excitement to see the results of our experiment.Through our instillatio

Explanation of Instillation: “In our culture there is no place for a women”

Instillation:“In our culture there is no place for a women” Through our instillation we want to explore Asian feminism through all 48 countries  Why? Asian feminism is seen as a taboo subject Through our instillation piece we will include a baby's mobile: this will represent a child growing up in a feminist world of Asia. Through this there will be a variety of Asian countries dangling down in vibrant colours. Furthermore on top of the mobile there will be a base that will have research of feminism history in Asia.  Through this the audience will enter the child perspective as if they were growing in a feminist world.  Beneath the instillation there will be a bed were the audience are able to lay down and look above the instillation  We all also have a projection of spoken words by gabies mother who has experience abuse and her reaction towards feminism. This will create a more personal view for individuals watching this. This will be all translated in English.  At the back

Final Idea

Here are a few images of our instillation piece

Instillation set up : Day Two

Set up day two -We had to change the layout of our instillation  - We had to remove the centre of the mobile and place it in a different position -The projection on the wall didn't work as it was not out of placed however we positioned it on the bed and it looked very effective -We used one lighting however we wanted to use two as some elements of our instillation piece was dark  -We put the flat up Overall looked very effective however the only issue we had that the bed will draw all the attention rather then on the posters and mobile. we removed the centre

Instillation set up : Day One

Setting up Instillation  We hooked everything and found that the centre was out of balanced the audio was fine we had to attach the countries on to the mobile so that it would be balanced  We couldn't test the motor out as the plug is different to the light plug  Solutions  Either to remove the feminism base so that the doughnut ring will turn  we need a projection to see the words on the wall working out the layout of the piece. Solving lighting (space to dark)

3D Workshop: Day Five

Drilling holes on the base and applying hooks and rope wire with a jigsaw machine we took out the centre of our base  We used hooks and drilled them in on four sides we attached rope wire on the each hook we tested out the motor and balanced the base- (everything moved very well) Slightly out of balance therefore we had to make the rope tight a possible on the day of the crit
